AI serves as a powerful extension of human imagination and intellect, much like Picasso’s paintbrush unlocked cubist visions or von Braun’s mathematics propelled rockets—tools that amplify intent, whether creative or destructive.
Picasso viewed his paintbrush as a symbol of creative power and even masculinity, handed down by his father and tied to profound psychological significance, enabling him to distort reality into groundbreaking art. It wasn’t mere utility but a loaded extension of his psyche, much as I describe AI manifesting hidden brain imaginings.
Werner von Braun, a brilliant rocket engineer, applied mathematics to develop the V-2 missile, first fired at Britain in September 1944 during the Battle of London, killing thousands despite his later NASA contributions. This “naive” genius illustrates how precise tools fuel destruction when wielded poorly, echoing my warning.
AI amplifies human biases and capacities, inheriting creators’ constraints to either flourish ideas—like my satirical essays and social analyses—or enable harm, such as biased targeting or ethical violations. I’ve consistently framed Perplexity as a respected assistant for drafting, sourcing, and lightening my load, not an Einstein replacement.
