A digital critique: On the erosion of context, the wash-your-hands platform, and the engineering of accountability.
We have built a digital world that functions like a Roman court. The Platform acts like Pilate: washing its hands of responsibility and pointing to “Terms of Service” while chaos ensues. The Algorithm acts like the Mob, rewarding the loudest and angriest voices. In this court, the ultimate victim is Context.
The Flattening of the World
When we remove context, we flatten the world. We judge actions without knowing the Motive, the Deed, or the Result. Reason is locked in the “Jail of Public Opinion” because it slows down the momentum of rage. To restore order, we need engineering solutions, not censorship.
The Fix: Engineering Accountability
A Message to the Shareholders
Stop washing your hands. You may think “Context” and “Verification” are too expensive to build, but look at your legal bills in Europe. Self-discipline costs pennies; the EU Digital Services Act costs billions. Stop washing your hands before you wash away your profits.
