Core Philosophy: Trust and Resilience

Great prophets and historical leaders—such as Muhammad (pbuh) and Jesus—were not made of marzipan; they could take a punch. Whether it was a curse from a pimp in the Bronx, a wealthy banker who couldn’t stomach losing a deal, or a teenager flying off the rails: they didn’t dwell on every minor slight.

Within our platform, an understanding of human emotions and outbursts is our guiding principle. We believe human dignity is restored by showing the way with patience and sound advice, and by setting boundaries—and not otherwise.

This Ethical Code is therefore not written out of distrust. It is rooted in the belief that everyone means well, but can sometimes show their worst side when overwhelmed by circumstances or emotions. So, do not expect a variation of one of the Holy Books from us.

The Core: Room for Freedom

Prof. Peter’s Paper Trails revolves precisely around the axis of a high degree of freedom of expression, without being patronized or excluded. We are not an environment that tells you what bias is; you will figure that out yourself along the journey of life. Our initiative exists solely to add knowledge, experience, and calm to that process.

Yet, there is always a critical boundary to safeguard. We divide this based on three unwavering boundary markers:

The Three Boundary Markers

1. Where freedom and war meet

Intention is everything. If you take the liberty to deliberately use your words as weapons of attack to cause harm, you find yourself in a state of war. At that specific point, we draw a hard, relentless line.

2. Where criticism and defamation meet

You can think whatever you want, but not everything can be said out loud without foundation. Words matter. Reputations arrive on horseback but leave on foot. If you choose to publicly pillory someone or dispute their integrity, ensure you possess ‘naked’, objective facts that justify your interpretation in the public domain.

• Our advice: It is better not to do it. Still feel the urge? Then be extremely careful.
• The difference between ‘suspecting’ and ‘stating’: The statement “I think someone is a fraud” is permitted, provided there is a healthy foundation for it (rumors and hearsay are not a foundation). The formulation “This happened to me and it feels like a scam” is likewise acceptable.
• The boundary: The assertion “He or she is a fraud because…” can and may only be made if there is a final, irrevocable court judgment. Your personal opinion is irrelevant when assigning such a criminal title. Furthermore, it can land both you and the described third party in the greatest possible (legal) trouble. Here, we draw a hard line.

3. Where ideologies, religions, and personal views meet

Religions and major ideologies outlast generations; you are merely wrestling with your own generation and, by definition, will not outlive it. This fact calls for humility and demands fundamental respect. No matter how strong or well-written your article is, you will never match the circulation and impact of the Quran or the Bible.

Therefore, be extremely cautious with destructive criticism and mocking a religion or ideology. They have stood the test of time, survived many a war, and still stand proud. Insulting these foundations does not align with our core attitude, and the repercussions will cost you dearly. Here, we draw a hard line.

“We do not believe in ironclad regulations.” To the discerning reader, this code goes without saying; for those with malicious intent, millions of rules are meaningless anyway.

Therefore, do not expect endless discussions about the letter of the law from us if you violate the spirit of this platform. Those who contribute constructively will find plenty of room here—even for a misstep. “Those who deliberately knock down our boundary markers will decisively be shown the exit.”

This platform is a non-profit initiative, funded partly by private practice income and partly by the community itself. We focus on publishing articles, mentoring (amateur) authors, community work, and peer-to-peer support. To keep this environment safe, fair, and workable for everyone, the following terms and conditions apply.

Article 1. Nature of the Information (Disclaimer)

• No professional advice: All publications, articles, community discussions, and statements on this platform are solely illustrative and intended for the development of ideas and thought.
• Own risk: Nothing on this website should be construed as binding medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice. Users act entirely at their own risk based on the information provided.
• No treatment relationship: Despite the professional background of the administrator (forensic psychologist), no therapeutic or doctor-patient relationship is established through this platform. For acute medical or psychological distress, you must always contact local emergency services or your own healthcare provider.

Article 2. Membership and Platform Contribution

• Periodic contribution: To gain access to the community and member features, members pay a membership fee (monthly or annually).
• Investment in the platform: As we are a non-profit organization, these revenues are strictly used to ensure the continuity and accessibility of the website. This includes, among other things: technical hosting, facilitating the live chat, the deployment of moderators, the translation of articles, and technical support for the visually impaired.
• Condition for participation: Payment of this contribution is a prerequisite for active participation in the closed sections of the platform.

Article 3. Advertisements by Members

• Facilitator: The platform exclusively offers space for registered members to place advertisements. We act solely as a digital bulletin board and do not verify the content of these offers.
• No liability: We explicitly take no responsibility for the quality, safety, or legality of the offered services or products.
• Second opinion: We always advise users to remain critical and to seek a ‘second opinion’ elsewhere before accepting any offer.
• Mutual agreement: Any agreement resulting from an advertisement is concluded solely between the member and the advertiser. The non-profit is not a party to this agreement.

Article 4. Copyrights and Financial Contribution

• Ownership and license: The author retains full copyright of the submitted and published work at all times. By submitting, however, the author grants the platform a free, worldwide, and non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the work online.
• Contribution from income: As a compensation for the costs of mentoring and platform management, the author owes a contribution of 10% of all direct income generated with the specific work via or thanks to the platform (such as reader donations or specific ad revenues).
• Administration and timeframe: This contribution is a net payment. The author is personally responsible for tracking this and must pay the owed amount to the non-profit no later than within 14 days of receiving the income.
• No income: Naturally, if no income is generated with the work, the author owes the platform nothing.

Article 5. Code of Conduct and Moderation

• Freedom and Decency: We encourage free speech and open, substantive discussions. However, we expect all members to adhere to the standards of basic decency.
• Factual criticism: Substantive and sharp criticism of individuals, institutions, or systems is permitted, provided it can be factually substantiated (for example, by referring to public convictions or legally established facts).
• Zero-tolerance policy: It is strictly prohibited to post statements that fall under:
  • Character assassination and defamation: Unfounded accusations or slander.
  • Insults and hate speech: The use of profanity, derogatory language, or vulgar personal attacks.
  • Intolerance: Any form of disrespect for religions, beliefs, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
• Right to moderate: The platform reserves the right at all times, at its own discretion and without prior warning, to remove or edit comments, articles, or advertisements that violate this code of conduct. In the event of a violation, a user’s access may be revoked immediately.

Article 6. Applicable Law and Privacy

• Jurisdiction: These terms and conditions, as well as all disputes arising from the use of this platform, are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
• Privacy: We highly value the privacy of our members in both Asia and Europe. How we handle your personal data (including within the closed peer-to-peer groups) is detailed in our separate Privacy Statement. Members must at all times respect the confidentiality of information shared by others in closed groups.

To ensure our payments are as smooth and secure as possible, we have chosen to use PayPal exclusively. These are our main reasons:

• Community-friendly: It is a trusted and accessible platform for all our members.
• Worldwide network: Wherever you are, the platform works internationally and without borders.
• Fast and simple: Setup is easy; you will be ready to make secure payments in no time.
• Consumer protection: Your safety as a buyer is our priority and is fully guaranteed.

Why Make Things Difficult When They Could Be Easy?

You might wonder why we are so strict about our payment methods when there are easier (or more direct) ways for us to receive money. We do this intentionally, and here is why:

• Know Your Business Partner / Know Your Member: Security starts with knowing exactly who you do business with. PayPal’s verification systems ensure a closed, secure network for everyone involved.
• Buyer over seller: PayPal’s dispute policy is incredibly strict, but it protects the buyer (you!) more heavily than the seller (us). We consciously choose to provide this extra layer of security for you.
• Total privacy for your data: Because payments are processed externally through PayPal’s encrypted environment, we never see or store your credit card details or specific payment methods.
• No extra costs for you: This extra security shouldn’t cost you anything extra. That is why we fully cover the transaction fees for every transfer.

Conclusion: How to Pay

Because security and full buyer protection are absolute prerequisites for us, we enforce the following rules:

• No bank transfers: These offer no purchase protection for you.
• No cash or cheques: These also lack any digital safety net.
• All major credit and debit cards accepted: You can use all your trusted payment cards, provided you securely check out via a registered PayPal account.

1. General Security & Architecture

How secure is my data within Your Portal?

Your data is protected by a fundamentally secure architecture. Unlike standard websites, we operate a dual-domain infrastructure. This means our public information website and the private platform (Your Profile) run on completely separate network environments and databases. In the unlikely event that the public website faces a vulnerability, your confidential data remains physically and digitally isolated from it.

Why do you use WordPress if you claim to be independent?

We use WordPress strictly as a stable engine framework (the core). All actual functionalities of the platform are custom-coded by us from scratch. We do not use third-party plugins for any core features. The sole exception is a strictly sandboxed utility plugin (FluentSMTP) required to securely connect our email routing. By eliminating standard external plugins, we remove the number one security risk of modern websites: data leaks caused by poorly maintained third-party software.

What does the ‘modular setup’ of the platform mean?

Every function within our platform is engineered as an isolated module (built on a strict data-isolation ‘bubble chart’ logic) with a unique ID and explicit dependencies. Modules cannot break into each other or read each other’s data; they communicate exclusively through tightly defined, secure data requests. If an error occurs within one module, the rest of the platform and your remaining data stay completely secure and unaffected.

2. Privacy, AI, and Marketing

Do AI systems (Gemini) or translation services (DeepL) read or use my data?

Within our Readers Support feature, we leverage the advanced capabilities of DeepL and Google Gemini. However, this is done exclusively via secure, paid API keys. We hold strict corporate contracts with these providers. The data you generate through Readers Support is never used to train public AI models, nor is it stored or shared by them. What you input remains entirely yours.

Do you share my browsing behavior or data with marketing agencies?

Absolutely not. Many platforms install tracking scripts or third-party pixels to harvest and sell your data to advertising networks. We don’t play that game. Our online visibility relies entirely on organic, in-house SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategies. Your data stays within our walls.

What about the newsletter? Is my email address safe?

Yes. Rather than offloading our emails to external marketing automation corporations that track your every click, we keep everything in-house. We route our communications through a secure utility connection (FluentSMTP) directly to our Google Workspace Business Standard environment.

• The connection between our platform and the mail server is heavily encrypted.
• Under Google’s Workspace Business terms, your email address and communication metadata are kept strictly confidential and are never used for advertising or profile building.

3. Payments & Your Responsibility

How do you handle my banking or credit card details?

We never store, see, or process your financial information. All transactions are handled entirely outside the walls of our platform by PayPal. You benefit from PayPal’s global security protocols and buyer protection guarantees (reimbursement if a promised service is not delivered), while we keep our hands completely off your financial data.

What is my own responsibility regarding security?

While our architecture is built to protect you, the human factor remains the most critical link in the chain. You are responsible for the security of your own devices.

Our Golden Rules for Users:

• Never leave your phone or computer unattended while logged in.
• Never share your passwords, PIN codes, or account access with anyone.
• Always enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) where available. Do not view it as a nuisance, but as your personal gatekeeper.

What should I do if I suspect a data breach or compromise?
